It is officially summer! Does that mean travel for you and your family? Or perhaps just friend and family get togethers a bit more often than the remainder of the year? Or maybe you are like me and your child or children have grown up and no longer are under your roof, so the planning is entirely different?
Warm days and sunshine
One of my favorite things about summer is the warm days and sunshine. Though we all have work to get done, this is the time of year that I love to steal moments to sit in the sun, or even go for a swim in the neighboring pool. Our weekends are full of taking the boat to either the bay or the lake, or driving north to the country to ride around on the 4-wheelers for hours.
It’s also the time of year that we have our Annual Conference for my company. This will be the 8th year that my husband and I will have attended. Always in July, and typically in a warm climate. The good news is that while my son has grown and now living his own life, I have embraced having my own business and have made so many new friends and people that are like family to keep me busy. Just one more thing that I love about my “job”.
As I get older, I realize that we have several seasons in our lives. My season finding fun things to keep my son busy during the summers has come to an end. He’s off making a life of his own now. My husband and I are being more adventurous and enjoying our time at this phase of life which I am thoroughly enjoying as well! Perhaps one day we will be blessed with grandbabies to dote on!
I think I reflect on this feeling the most in the summer because this is usually the time of year that I can’t believe is “already here”, and it’s when I think back to the many years with my son and looking for fun things for he and I to do together. It’s also the time of year that we have typically taken vacations, and have been to some amazing places, so I can’t help but reflect back on those things as well.
What kind of things do you enjoy doing this time of year? What “season” of life are you in? I pray you make the most of each season, and enjoy your summer!
