Being a very open minded person, I LOVE to learn. And I continue to learn constantly! Some of the things I continue to learn may be simple, but for me they can make a big difference! Especially when it comes to decorating my home!
So a few years ago, a good friend came to help me take a fresh look at my house and the layout to see what we could do different. For better flow. While we moved things around (and even changed my dining room with my living area!), she noticed my collections. Yes, I collected a few things. Crosses, picture frames, and candles. I have some fabulous candle holders, and she kept taking the actual candles off of them as she arranged things. Of course, I thought this was a little odd, but being the open minded person like I mentioned before, I just rolled with it! She told me “just because it is a candle holder doesn’t mean it needs a candle!”
Now, move forward a few years, one of my favorite things to find are unique candle holders! And for the majority of the ones around my house, I do NOT put a candle on them! It simply brings the eye to the actual candle holder instead, which I love! Here’s a simple area in my home today where you can see I have used my candle holders for accent pieces! And look how pretty they are without the actual candles!
As you can see, I have one of my Pink Zebra Accent Shades that is over my Simmering Light base that holds the Sprinkles, so I have fragrance when I want it. I do not need the candles for the scent, and I just love the way the holders look by themselves! What do you think? Have you ever tried just taking the candles off of your holders? Try it! See what you think! I bet your eye will focus on the pretty holders instead!
Now, about those collections…I promise to cover that another time!
