Who loves traditional candles? All of these amazing companies have come out with wonderful wax melts (and of course I am partial to Pink Zebra’s Sprinkles!), but once in a while I just want to make my own candle with a wick and a flame. My favorite place to buy candles was always Pier One in the past. They had candles that not only smelled good, but LOOKED pretty. And of course, if you know anything about me, I love the things in my home and office to look pretty! The ambiance that a candle provides is wonderful!
If you are like me and enjoy burning candles, here are a few basic tips I follow! The wick is the most important part of the candle! Be sure before you light your candle, that you trim your wick. If the wick is too long, it will tunnel once it hits your wax simply because the wick has the chance to get too hot. A good rule of thumb is to trim it to about 1/4″.
If you are using Sprinkles and our Glimmer Glass, you can create a very colorful candle. By using at least two different scents, you can make a very pretty candle like this one below. You can blend your favorite colors, as well as scents that you want to mix together, which will create a very personalized look just for you!
If you are using Sprinkles in a Glimmer Glass, once you center your wick and pour in your Sprinkles, you can simply tap the candle on the counter lightly to help the Sprinkles settle. This and a correctly trimmed wick will keep your candle from tunneling. Tunneling is when the wick burns all the way through the center of the candle without melting it thoroughly.
And finally, when you are ready to blow out your candle, be sure to wait until the entire top of the candle has liquified. Wicks have memory and you want it to continue burning the same once you relight it. So be sure to allow the candle to melt across the top so that it will pick up right where it left off once you light it again. If it has only melted around the wick, it will pick up from there when relit and have the potential of tunneling. Our key to candles is NO TUNNELING. Right?!
So enjoy your candles! For more information on how to specifically get your hands on our Pink Zebra Glimmer Glass and Sprinkles, reach out to me or comment below.
